About the author

I’ve been an avid reader all my life. Growing up in a small rural town, I survived long summer days reading one book after another. My book friends kept me company and fueled my imagination.

My life took the path of wife, homemaker and mother of two sons. I studied Interior Design and was a certified Emergency Medical Technician, taking time off to be a full-time mom. When the boys were in high school, I went back to work as an Executive Assistant/Office Manager, first for a machinery broker, and presently for a landscaping firm.

When my sons left for college, I pursued another passion: horses. We moved back to the country where horse shows and trail riding filled my time. After my sons graduated, got married and settled down, I got serious about writing and began putting the words burning inside onto paper. I took creative writing courses and joined a writers guild. I attended Open Mic nights and to my surprise, I loved it. When I got laughs where I wanted laughs, and tears when I wanted tears, I was hooked.

In 1997, ’98, ’99, I had short stories published in anthologies by Outrider Press, and a story in Detective Mystery Stories in 2001. In 1997, I won second place in a writing contest sponsored by NOW. In 2003, I had my first major publication: A Change of Command in Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover’s Soul. A second story: Finally Success – A New Me! appears in the January, 2007 edition of Chicken Soup for the Dieter’s Soul. My first novel, Remember Me, a story of romantic fiction, was published in May 2007 by Five Star Expressions.

I excitedly await the publication of my first mystery novel, Retribution, to be released in November 2009 by Echelon Press. With both novels, I owe a special thanks to the friends of my novel writer’s group, The Southland Scribes, for all their help and support through the writing and publishing process. I’m now working on a sequel to Retribution and another stand-alone novel.

When I’m not writing, I care for my five-acre mini-ranch, working my horses in poles and barrel routines and trail riding. Volunteering for Hospice and the church nursery is a rewarding experience. Other church ministries include two Bible study groups, the Stitcher’s Group-making afghans for at-risk babies and scarves for orphanages, the Card Connection-helping make greeting cards sent by the church. I’ve recently joined the Technical Arts/Design Team.

I’ve been the office manager for a landscape firm for the past ten years and recently joined the local Woman’s Club, which sponsors an annual Garden Walk and provides philanthropic services to the community such as scholarships and gift boxes to overseas servicemen and women.

Married, with two grown sons and three grandchildren, I love to read, sew and work in my flower gardens, work out at the fitness club three times a week. I paint in oils and watercolor.

I do my best for the economy by trying to keep Kohl’s and Crate & Barrel in business.

Thanks for visiting my website—I would love to hear from you.
