I’ve been an avid reader all my life. Growing up in a small rural town, I survived long summer days reading one book after another. My book friends kept me company and fueled my imagination. My life took the path of wife, homemaker and mother of two sons. I studied Interior Design and was a certified Emergency Medical Technician, taking time off to be a full-time mom. When the boys were in high school, I went back to work as an Executive Assistant/Office Manager, first for a machinery broker, and presently for a landscaping firm. When my sons left for college, I pursued another passion: horses. We moved back to the country where horse shows and trail riding filled my time. After my sons graduated, got married and settled down, I got serious about writing and began putting the words burning inside onto paper. I took creative writing courses and joined a writers guild. I attended Open Mic nights and to my surprise, I loved it. When I got laughs where I wanted laughs, and tears when I wanted tears, I was hooked. In 1997, ’98, ’99, I had short stories published in anthologies by Outrider Press, and a story in Detective Mystery Stories in 2001. In 1997, I won second place in a writing contest sponsored by NOW. In 2003, I had my first major publication: A Change of Command in Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover’s Soul. A second story: Finally Success – A New Me! appears in the January, 2007 edition of Chicken Soup for the Dieter’s Soul. My first novel, Remember Me, a story of romantic fiction, was published in May, 2007 by Five Star Expressions. I owe a special thanks to the friends in my novel writers group, The Southland Scribes, for all their help and support through the writing and publishing process. My New Year’s resolution was to write every day and so far, so good. Writing every day keeps me focused and I’m having the best time writing my second novel, a mystery/thriller, Retribution. I paint in several mediums, volunteer with hospice, and my two grandchildren keep me grounded. Some days there doesn’t seem to be enough hours, but I’m happy writing and finally feel like I’m doing what I’m meant to do. Thanks for visiting my website—I would love to hear from you.
